Combe celebrates 50 years for its Formula Ford 1600 championship with gathering of cars and champions

-

The Castle Combe Circuit will celebrate 50 years since its Formula Ford 1600 championship was created with past champions and cars due to be honoured.

All former champions will be invited to the season-opening Howard’s Day race meeting, named in honour of circuit owner Howard Strawford who created the championship, on Easter Monday, April 22.

The circuit’s FF1600 round will be a double-header, with the aggregate winner from the two races being awarded a commemorative Guards Trophy, sponsors of the very first championship in 1969.

A round of the Classic Formula Ford Championship will also be held during the meeting, where there will be free circuit entry offered to all Formula Fords to take part in a static display.

The race meeting will also feature a bumper collector’s programme, full of history and images from the last 50 years.
