New GT Trophy offers £1000 to winner

-

A new-for-2019 GT Challenge Trophy race will be held at the Castle Combe Circuit this year with the overall winner receiving £1000.

Five classes are open to cars, including GT3, GT4, turbo/ supercharged, over 3000cc and 2000cc to 3000cc, with 42 spots available for the race which will be held on Bank Holiday Monday, May 27.

A 20-minute qualifying session will be followed by a 30-minute race, with prize money of £250 per class victor also provided by sponsor ME7 Ltd.

“We’re hoping if it’s successful we will run it each year,” said Jo Lewkowicz, co-ordinator of the Castle Combe Racing Club.

“They [drivers] are more than welcome to take part in the [Castle Combe GT Championship] invitational class which is new for this year.

“GT people tend to like the track time, most of them are running with teams and it’s more cost-effective.”
