7 PRINCE ALBERT TEST-DRIVES ELECTRIC BOAT

-

The reigning monarch of Monaco was spotted testing one of the smallest boats at last month’s Monaco Yacht Show. The Greenline NEO Edrive is claimed to be the first mainstream production leisure craft powered solely by electricity.

The Prince is a known to be a fan of environmental preservation, having driven himself to his own wedding in a hybrid car seven years ago. He has also brought Formula E racing to the streets of Monaco and ensured that all its citizens are eligible for a 30% subsidy on electric cars.

The 10m NEO is powered by twin 80hp Torqeedo Deep Blue outboard engines linked to two 30.5 KWH BMW i3 high-performance lithium batteries that provide a range of 74km at an average speed of 7 knots.
