The most remarkable thing about the Chase 34 is how well put together it was considering it had only been dropped in the water the week before the show and the team hadn’t even had a chance to run the engines. When they do, with its pair of 370hp V8 diesels, it will comfortably top 50 knots and if they fit the optional twin 540hp inboard petrols (there are outboard options, too) they reckon it will do 30 more!
If you’re doing 80 knots you need to be certain the boat can take it and judging by the way the 34 hangs together it’s a non-issue. The tactility of everything is exceptional and the attention to detail to die for. Yes there is a sparse double berth and a separate bathroom, but the boat is best put to use covering vast distances with ease to arrive at the best anchorage first and enjoy the clever cockpit. What a weapon.
