The prize for the most strik­ing front end of any new boat at the show goes to this bold new week­ender from Span­ish ship­yard Astondoa.

With a re­verse-an­gled top half matched to a con­ven­tional lower half, the bow looks like a par­tic­u­larly ag­gres­sive par­rot’s beak. It may not be to ev­ery­one’s taste but we rather like it and it cer­tainly suits the boat’s dis­tinc­tive side pro­file with its sculpted sur­fac­ing and sharply kinked sheer­line.

Deep walka­round decks pro­tected by tall bul­warks means there’s no need for any bow rails to dis­rupt those clean lines, while still giv­ing safe, easy ac­cess to the fore­deck sun­pads and an­chor locker.

The three heav­ily bol­stered helm seats are tucked be­hind a frame­less smoked wind­screen with a T-top over­head pro­vid­ing use­ful shade and pro­tec­tion from the el­e­ments. Be­ing a day boat there’s only a cock­pit wet bar rather than a proper gal­ley to serve your guests.
