10 ROBERT RICHARDSON RIP

Robert Richardson, the man behind Richardson’s Boating Holidays, has died aged 95. Richardson started the business renting out four rowing boats at the beginning of World War Two before being called up for national service and asking his father to step in.

They bought their first motor boat for hire in 1944 and moved to premises in Stalham on the Norfolk Broads in 1958. They grew the business over the next 15 years to become the largest boatyard on the Broads. Four more boat yards on the River Thames followed in the 1990s.
