Go Pro is acknowledged as the market leader in waterproof action cams, a position it intends to preserve with the release of the Hero 7. Physically, it mirrors the previous model, retaining its 10-metre water resistance, up to 4K video quality, and the super slow motion 240-frames-per- second capability. The main advantage of the new Hero 7 Black is improved stabilisation, described as ‘gimble-like’, a huge benefit on a fast boat. It also adds live streaming whilst saving streamed video to the SD card, enhanced audio recording, face detection and a new feature called Timewarp video, which works in a similar way to time lapse but is much smoother. It costs £379.99, but interestingly Go Pro has introduced Hero7 ‘light’ versions. The Hero7 Silver and White are the same camera but with less features at lower price points.
