FAIREY OWNERS CELEBRATE 60 YEARS

-

Seventeen boats, including an example of every Fairey motor boat produced, turned out for the Fairey Owners’ Club celebration of 60 years of the Fairey Huntress. Held at MDL’S Hamble Point Marina, the barbecue was attended by 65 club members and their boats.

Developed from a Ray Hunt deep-vee design in the late 1950s and constructed from hot moulded mahogany, the Huntress was the first boat built by Fairey Marine in response to a demand for fast motor boats. It spawned a series of fast seaworthy motor boats built at Fairey’s Hamble Point facility. At the time

Fairey was the world’s largest boat manufacturer outside of the United States, selling up to 1,000 boats a year across the range.
