As if to hammer home the outboard day boat theme of this year’s show, purveyor of scaled down superyachts, Ocean Alexander, will display its first boat of this type at Cannes. This is a serious machine, with eyes on Boston Whaler, Fjord and the new Gulf Craft Oryx, and storming performance from a quartet of 350hp outboards.
It comes in a fishing and diving layout, the diving one looks of more use to leisure boaters
thanks to folding platforms that extend the cockpit’s width and a convertible double berth in the open-plan cabin below with a separate day heads/bathroom.
The foredeck combines sunbathing space with an additional dinette to supplement the larger one in the cockpit. It’s an expensive boat but it looks to be both a versatile and very capable new contender.
