The 640 Classic Azure may seem a touch on the small side for Custom Yachting but with such levels of customisation available, its place is warranted.

Outer Reef Yachts has its sights set squarely on the European market with the 640 and will be exhibiting it for the first time at the Cannes Boat Show this month.

The 640’s substantial 3,785-litre fuel capacity gives a range of 1,000nm at 10 knots and up to

1,400nm if the cruising speed is reduced to 8 knots, which means you could cruise from Antibes to

Malta and back, for example, without having to stop to refuel.

The 640 is fitted with twin 476hp Caterpillar C9.3 engines as standard, for a top speed of 14 knots, with the optional 750hp John Deere units producing 20 knots flat out and a 17-knot fast cruise.

It’s not all about covering ground though, the 640’s expansive deck spaces and huge interior mean there should be plenty to enjoy with the engines switched off. In fact, Outer Reef claims that the 640 has the most outdoor deck space of any 64ft (19.5m) boat on the market.

The standard layout is a three-cabin design featuring a full-beam master suite, a VIP suite in the bow and a twin guest cabin to starboard.

The flybridge is large enough to incorporate fixed seating around a central helm station, sun loungers amidships and storage for the tender aft, with launching duties handled by a deck crane. One of the best spots aboard the boat would appear to be the bench forward of the upper helm station, which gives a couple of guests views over the foredeck and out to sea.
