MY FANTASY FLEET

Name: Greg Hughes and Sally Browning Current boat: Rinker 232 Captiva Berthed: Brixham

-

Greg has been boating for eight years after swapping motorbikes for a more family-friendly hobby. Sally has been boating for four years and is quite handy now with ropes and fenders but only when she hasn’t had a sparkling wine!

SALLY - 2014 PRESTIGE 750 £1,500,000

As I was sitting writing wedding invitations, with added glitter, the mythical task seemed rather jolly but the first thing we did was argue on how best to divide £5 million! Choosing three together was not on. I wanted to choose one on my own. After many discussions and more wine we settled on one each and one together for Brixham, our favourite home port. Husbandto-be went to bed, so I googled “super yacht”, and was told I needed to drop the word super, so I tried “quirky, expensive, luxury”. I got very excited about a 2010 Oceanco with gym, gorgeous bedrooms and décor – before realising it was

£115 million not £1.5. Many were too beige but I settled on a Prestige 750. I love the main deck master cabin and the huge flybridge and aft deck. San Remo would be a fabulous spot for it – plenty to explore with great food and wine!

GREG - RINKER EX320 £225,000

I love the build and performance of the Rinker. Its wide beam is excellent for chilling out with the benefit of still being able to explore small bays and, when required, the speed to have a bit of fun. Having a small two-berth cabin means that we can still escape on our own. I would keep the boat in Brixham, as we both absolutely love the place. Sally adds: “And what Greg doesn’t say is that it comes with a built-in blender to make your own smoothies

– I bet he really wanted it for that. But I do feel it’s a lush boat. We could have the occasional guest very happily and could travel further afield and explore in comfort.”

BOTH - FAIRLINE TARGA 65 GT £1,550,000

We always enjoy looking at the Targas when we are in Torquay Marina and this latest one has beautiful craftsmanship. We also like the fact that it’s British built. Many interiors seem to be a bit stuck in the past but this is modern and fresh. It has a spacious feel but isn’t too large to handle on our own. We probably wouldn’t want to, though. With all that luxury surrounding us we’d rather not have to worry about crashing it! So this would be our crewed boat ready for us to enjoy with family and friends. We’d keep it in Croatia as there’s loads to explore and it’s within easy flying time of the UK.

What would you buy? You have won £5 million in MBY’S fantasy lottery, which you have to spend on three boats. Fuel is no object and one comes with crew. Send your suggestions to mby@ti-media.com with My Fantasy Fleet in the subject line
