6 VIRUS FEARS POSTPONE BOAT SHOWS

-

A number of local and international boat shows have been postponed due to fears over the coronavirus. The Palma Boat Show has been pushed back from its usual dates at the end of April to the beginning of June. The show will now take place 4-7 June.

The British Motor Yacht Show has also been postponed from May to June. The four day show, which was due to take place from

14-17 May, will now run from 11-14 June.

The Thames Valley and London Boat Show has taken similar precautions, delaying its original timing over the May Day bank holiday weekend until 26-28 June.

The organisers of the Poole Harbour Boat Show have gone one step further and cancelled this year’s show altogether, citing ongoing uncertainty over the long-term impact of the virus and the need for exhibitors to have clarity on the issue. A statement was released saying:

“With over 30,000 show visitors, Poole Harbour Commissioners also has a huge responsibility to public safety.”

At the time of going to press the West Country Boat Show was still planning to go ahead over the weekend of June 20-21 at Queen Anne’s Battery in Plymouth. However, visitors to this and all other boat shows are advised to keep an eye on their respective websites for further updates.
