GETTING THERE BY BOAT
Head up the Hamble to Old Bursledon and the Jolly Sailor will be on your port side, just before the Elephant Boatyard. The pub does have its own landing stage for small boats and dinghies, but it’s a drying berth, so plan accordingly.
Alternatively, a limited number of short-term and overnight visitors moorings are available at the Elephant Boatyard or Deacons Marina next door. While you can walk to the Jolly Sailor along the shoreline from the Elephant, if you end up at Deacons and don’t have a dinghy be prepared for a 15-minute march up and over a steep hill, as it’s separated from the Elephant by an impenetrable security fence. A third alternative would be to berth across the river at Swanwick Marina.
