Johnson isn’t a name you will hear too much about on these shores but the Taiwanese shipyard has been building boats for over 30 years and with Bill Dixon and Design Unlimited responsible for the 115’s naval architecture and interior respectively, there is major pedigree behind this new flagship.
One of Johnson’s key attributes is its attitude towards customisation.
The shipyard gives the customer a framework but there is license for them to take control of everything from the number of cabins on board to exactly what type of timber is used throughout the bright, stylish interior.
The standard configuration comprises five or six cabins with a space at the forward end of the lower deck for three to five crew. The master suite takes up a spot on the main deck where it benefits from the full breadth of the 115’s
25ft beam, gigantic windows on either flank and an open-plan marble-clad ensuite bathroom separated from the bed by a floating partition.
Those on the lower deck do pretty well too, especially in one of the two identical suites amidships, though there isn’t really a short straw when it comes to guest accommodation aboard the 115.
The sky lounge’s open aft deck is almost comically spacious, the pair of dining tables looking a little lost on a sea of teak, but the whole idea is that customers will add furniture and other options to suit them.
