MONTECRISTO 30 AND 43
With design credits including Rossinavi, CNN, Wally and Baglietto, Italian designer Tommaso Spadolini’s pair of new ‘pocket superyachts’ are not lacking in pedigree. Despite having vastly different volumes (sub-200gt and 340GT) the 30 and
43 both share a design that balances relatively compact dimensions with superyacht-baiting interior volumes.
Both yachts have an eye on sustainability as well, with solar cells incorporated into the glass on the sun deck to run the domestic energy supply and space in the engineroom for an extra battery bank to allow for a hybrid drivetrain that would enable silent and emission-free cruising for a short period.
Both yachts have a tri-deck layout and though the 43 has the luxury of more space on its sun deck, the 30 still includes a climatecontrolled sky lounge, sunbathing space and a hot tub. Sliding doors along the side of the sky lounge are a neat addition and add an extra point of access aside from the aft doors.
Whereas the 43 has five cabins on its lower deck, including the master suite, the 30 has its three guest cabins on the lower deck and a splendid main deck master suite with a separate lounge area and full-beam ensuite bathroom. With no side decks on the main deck, the yachts’ saloons can extend to the very extremes of the beam in both designs and, though there are no interior renderings available yet, you can bet all of that glazing will provide masses of natural light and spectacular views.
