ZIPWAKE SERIES E

-

Imtra has expanded its range of Zipwake trim tabs to cater for larger boats. The new Series E range caters for boats from 50-100ft (the original Series S covered boats from 20-50ft). Unlike traditional horizontal trim tabs, the Zipwake tabs lower vertical blades into the water. It means that a full blade stroke from zero application to fully deployed takes just 1.5 seconds, up to 10 times faster than conventional horizontal tabs. The Series E deploys at a speed of 1.6 inches per second (40mm per second) for a total stroke of 2.4 inches (60 mm). The company says that its tabs also exert less drag due to Zipwake’s interceptor blade extending between 30 to 60 mm, whereas normal trim tabs often project 150 mm or more, inducing substantial drag.

Another big advantage of the Zipwake tabs are the different versions available, allowing them to be fitted pretty much right across the transom if required. Series E includes three straight, three tunnel and two chine interceptors. The three tunnel models (R500, R600 and R800) have different radii, making sure that most large boat propeller tunnels can be covered with negligible deviation between hull and interceptor curvature. When arranged to use the length of the stern for lift generation, the new interceptors are much more efficient at creating lift compared to narrow-span trim tabs.

Unique 3D controls with a large LCD display provide the helmsman with an intuitive and precise control of running trim, heel or heading and the system is fully automatic.
