SURVEYOR’S REPORT
This boat takes you back to the era of smaller, bespoke built craft built in low volume, with almost limitless options available when in-build.
The quality of finish in these craft is exceptionally good, with sensible features like deep fiddle rails and removable locker backs to allow access to systems, wiring and fittings. The clever glass door system and saloon seating make for a very adaptable and practical boat.
The offshore version with twin trusty Nanni diesels will provide suitable offshore performance for cruising, but not outright sports performance. However, the Andrew Wolstenholme designed hull will always provide for re-assuring tracking in a seaway, even if it gets choppy. Points to note when considering buying:
As always with limited production craft, contact the builders and/or their agents to get a feel for their after-care outlook. There may be times when you need specific information or help on the boat, and a re-assuring feel and friendly, enthusiastic help from the builders is particularly helpful. Think carefully about your intended boating requirements, not only for the immediate, but for the relatively long term. The quality and finish of this boat means it’s not a cheap purchase. That should bode well for re-sale but as it is a niche market craft, prices may vary more than some better known brands, particularly if you need to sell quickly.
If you do opt for the offshore version, aim for the largest engine option, as this is likely to be more desirable. Nanni diesels have built a good reputation in the industry, but as always, check their service history carefully. Find out who and where your nearest approved Nanni servicing agents are.
Given the amount of glass in this craft, carefully inspect all the door seals and operation of the multi panel sliding and hinged doors. Also the roof seals. Check for gelcoat cracking around radii and apertures.
If looking at the offshore version, pay specific attention to any flexing of the hull in the forward sections, due to possible slamming in a seaway, and hull/deck radii, and windscreen frame joints. Overall, provided she is sound, this combination of quality of build, safe sound seakeeping plus a good blend of features, means that you should be able to enjoy some comfortable and relaxed cruising on this boat.
