n its pomp Sessa was producing some of the most stylish and inventive cruisers on the market, and after a tumultuous period the Italian yard is back at it with new investment and fresh ideas (see the F68 Gullwing featured here last month).

With the Key Largo range, it appears to have foreseen the trend for outboard day boats so is in a good position to launch this new 40ft flagship, which with triple 425hp outboards is good for a claimed top speed of 55 knots. A brand new hull design promises good economy as well as the obvious performance potential.

The KL range is a handsome one but the 40 combines striking lines with the most functional deck spaces yet, including folding terraces on either side of the cockpit and modular seating that can be adapted for dining, sunbathing or passage making at the drop of a hat. A carbon fibre T-top is an option that most will opt for to offer some shade over the helm station and cockpit. With this overhead and the deep wraparound windscreen atop the dash, protection should be pretty good for those sitting in three integrated helm seats when the boat is charging along at a cruising speed that could be well into the 40s.

Though most will take advantage of the

40’s pace and deck arrangement for day boat duties, the lower deck includes a separate double cabin amidships and a convertible double forward with small galley and separate bathroom in between so day trips can comfortably spill into overnighters.
