he last time we saw this level of innovation from a new Finnish brand it also happened to have six letters and an “X” in its name. And this one looks every bit as exciting!
Hot on the heels of the entry-level Saxdor 200 Sport (see MBY June) comes this new
320 model. With production due to start in September, Saxdor founder Sakari Mattila says it combines Italian style with American functionality and French pricing. His own Scandinavian eye will no doubt add the practical prowess and bestow the 320 with the sort of usability that comes from being designed in a country where they use boats as transport, not just play things.
This T-top GTO will be first off the line but two other deck variants will follow. Amazingly, that £90,000 starting price includes a 300hp Mercury V8 outboard engine, folding terraces in the cockpit, a T-top, wetbar, sunpad with adjustable backrest and a cabin with separate bathroom. It looks like a staggering amount of boat for the money considering it is dotted with the sort of design flourishes you would expect to see on boats twice the price.
We are yet to test a Saxdor product but with a review of the 200 Sport in the offing we’ll soon discover whether the boats are as good in the flesh as they appear to be on paper.
