MY FANTASY FLEET
Name: Tom Wills Current boat: None
grew up with boating in the family and I inherited my father’s love of boating and obsession with Sunseekers – he had several in succession throughout my teenage years. So it was probably inevitable that when I left university and began a career in the marine industry, it was a path that would lead me to my current position, Sales Director of Sunseeker Torquay. Nobody who knows me will be surprised that all of my ‘fantasy’ choices are Sunseekers.
SUNSEEKER CAMARGUE 51 £100,000 PLUS £50K TO MAKE IT TOP-NOTCH!
Having spent my teenage years and early twenties with one of these in my family – a boat called Still Mystified – I will always have a soft spot for the Camargue 51.
These boats are classic Sunseeker – you could remove all the badges and anyone who had been around boating in the 1990s would recognise it instantly. I would turn back time and keep the boat in Torquay where my father kept his.
It’s a fantastic dayboat with lovely performance, space and sea-keeping. They’re incredible value now at around £100,000 but I’d budget another £50,000 to restore it to its original glory and relive my late childhood with my own children.
SUNSEEKER PREDATOR 60 £800,000
This has to be one of the best boats built by Sunseeker in the last decade and the ideal Med boat. It has three cabins with a HUGE cockpit, offering the perfect base for lazy days at anchor in the Balearics. It’s fast too, with Ips1200equipped boats able to hit 40 knots. The interior fit out of these boats, usually in American walnut, is particularly special. I would base the boat in Mallorca and cruise with family and friends around the island. The ideal base would be Puerto Portals as it’s reasonably close to the airport and awash with great restaurants and stunning cruising grounds.
SUNSEEKER 86 YACHT £4,000,000
The layout of the 86 is ideal for a big family. My wife and I can enjoy the full-beam master, the children would have a cabin each, and their grandparents can enjoy the isolation of the private suite forward. I would use it to roam between Amalfi and Sotogrande. I’d opt for Amalfi from April to August and then relocate it to Sotogrande via the French Riviera. The reason I like Sotogrande is the extended season – I have friends who manage to boat there in January!
