Camera controls – the basics

There are three ways you can control the amount of light reaching the sensor or film; sensitivit­y, aperture and shutter speed. All three offer advantages and disadvanta­ges – all camera settings are a compromise. Use the light meter in your camera or phone, but bear in mind if the sky is much brighter than the bike, so at first the bike may go dark. Look for ‘manual settings’ or ‘exposure compensati­on’ controls to adjust the settings. Here are some basics control settings to help you get the best from the situation.
