If you don’t have a garage, or have restricted space to park your bike, then you could do no worse than invest in a bike cover. Not only does it protect it from the elements, it also helps to hide your pride and joy from prying eyes.

These covers come in a variety of sizes to suit all shapes of bikes. In my case I needed something to fit a Suzuki Burgman and Givi’s S202XL fitted the bill perfectly; it’s not just designed to fit a maxi scooter either and being 125cm high/235cm long it’s suitable for any large motorcycle, including sports-tourers and enduros.

It’s constructed from Polyester with thermo-sealed seams which Givi says ensures complete water resistance. It’s easy to fit to the bike too; at the base, there’s an elasticated strap which fastens underneath the bike via a clipping system (the strap is adjustable to suit all shapes and sizes of vehicles).

For added security there are openings which allow you to pass a security device through both the cover and the bike’s wheels; the good thing about these openings is that they aren’t solid metal rings and shouldn’t cause any bodywork damage (on my previous cover they were metal and this resulted in some paint chipping when the wind caused them to make contact with the paintwork).

The Givi cover is well designed and does its job well; I’d certainly recommend investing in one. Other sizes and styles are available.
