This October our guests of honour are 10 times sidecar world champion Steve Webster MBE and genius engineer and Classic Motorcycle Mechanics contributor, Allen Millyard. Both will be interviewed on stage by none other than our resident compere and star in his own right, Steve Plater, and Allen will be displaying a selection of his amazing bike ‘creations’ in the Main Hall.
2NEW! 9AM ADVANCE TICKET ENTRY TIME
For 2019, we’ve introduced a brand new benefit for buying your tickets in advance. If you’re savvy enough to buy your ticket in advance, not only will you save £3 on the price, but you’ll also be able to get in to the show half-an-hour earlier than the rest of the crowd, who can enter from the normal time of 9.30am. This is perfect if you want first dibs on the autojumble treasure as soon as you walk through the gates, and the £3 saving will go towards a well-deserved pint at the end of the day!
3FEEL THE GROUND SHAKE IN THE GP PADDOCK
Head out to the Classic Racer GP Paddock where famous race machines of the past are fired up twice each day. Compere Steve Plater and our star guest will be on hand to give their thoughts on proceedings… that’s when they can get a word in edgeways over the deafening roar of some iconic monsters from racing’s glory days. You can almost smell the Castrol R!
4COMPETITION HALL!
Appearances can be deceptive. On the outside nothing appears to have changed with the building, but ‘never judge a book…’, as the well-known idiom states. The owners of the showground spent a small fortune on a full revamp of this indoor space last year, located just next to the firing-up area. It has been completely refurbished, creating a brand new interior. No pillars, no gnarly carpet or crusty bar and no straw… well, maybe just a little! It’s allowed us to pack more bikes and more trade into the area, creating the best-ever competition bike area last year, which we hope will be even better for 2019!
5SLIPPING AND SLIDING, DEATH DEFYING… IT’S THE WALL OF DEATH!
The Fox family have been touring and entertaining since the 1920s. With their vintage Indian Scouts and 20ft high vertical wall, it is a show that needs to be seen to be believed! All those who witness the spectacular performance will remember it for the rest of their life. The noise, the speed, the smell, the proximity of the bikes ridden to the top of the wall (barely six inches from the audience) – it is an experience never to be forgotten! *Entrance to the Wall of Death is chargeable.
6MARVEL AT THE FINEST EXAMPLES OF PRIVATE COLLECTION MOTORCYCLES
Owners spend thousands of painstaking hours ensuring their exhibit is in its best possible condition, ready for display and inspection by the crowds and judges. As would be expected at the October show, there is a focus on Japanese machines and marques such as Suzuki, Honda, Ducati, Kawasaki and Yamaha all featuring heavily. The likes of Norton, BSA, Cotton and Sunbeam – among others – do provide a British flavour, too. Alongside the machines on the show’s club stands, the private entries will compete for a host of show awards, including the coveted Best in Show.
7AUTOJUMBLE AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEE!
If you are looking for a great day out filled with motorcycle bargains, the 26th Carole Nash Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show is the place to be! More than 900 traders showcased their wares at last year’s event and this year is set to be even bigger. With a mammoth display of spare parts, tools, books, magazines, signs and even complete machines, you can be certain you’ll find exactly what you are looking for.
8CLUB STANDS SO GOOD YOU WILL BE BEGGING TO JOIN THEM!
Classic Jap bikes, exotic continentals, rare contraptions… the wonderful and expansive mix of club stands packed into the halls at Staffordshire County Showground has it all. A quick browse of the A-Z list and all the big-hitters are there, from the likes of the multi-interest VMCC and VJMC, through to the specialist owners’ clubs covering marques such as Francis-Barnett, Sunbeam, Velocette and Norton, among others.
