BRITISH SUPERBIKES: THE DYNAVOLT TRIUMPH STREET TRIPLE 765 RS

The Triumph factory is about to make a return to the racetrack - and here’s a look at the bike that it’ll be running in British Supersport this season.

The British factory has revealed the bike that it’ll be putting through its paces as part of this year’s British Supersport Championship.

The new Dynavolt Street Triple 765 RS will be raced by Kyle Ryde (World Supersport) and Brandon Paasch (former British Motostar Champion) – while Simon Buckmaster and the PTR team racing will be looking after all the behind the scenes stuff.

It’s a big move from Triumph, although it’s not expecting to be topping the timesheets straight away. It’s expressed that its main goal is to demonstrate the ability of the 765 triple motor and the Street Triple RS chassis, while learning from the experience to trickle-down technology from the racetrack to the road. That’s not all, as the British factory also wants to make an impression on Supersport racing as a whole, helping to offer a greater variety of engine formats and configurations, and in turn influence more exciting and open racing.

Steve Sargent, Triumph’s Chief Product Officer, explained: “We were offered the opportunity of testing the formula for expanding the Championship and see this year very much as a year for a proving ground for us to make sure we have a competitive bike. The ambition is to go beyond this and next year go into World Supersport, part of a longerterm racing strategy, and this is a key part in terms of developing a more road-based racing class; so building something that you can actually go into the showroom, buy and ride and then convert into a race bike. I think, for a manufacturer like Triumph, that’s quite important.”
