Arai’s just revealed its new full face Quantic lid and it looks to be another cracking bit of kit from the Japanese helmet specialist that’s up to the job of keeping your head safe and sound. Designed with sport touring in mind, the Quantic blends some of the best features of its Profile-V and RX7V, while adding a handful of new ones to help it stand out in Arai’s extensive collection. The talking points for the new Arai are safety, comfort, ventilation and stability, but the really big news is that the Quantic is the first helmet to pass the recently introduced ECE R2206 homologation standard.

We've gone into specifics of the new standard before, but in brief it’s a much more stringent testing process that helps to ensure that helmets are safer than ever. The outer shell of the newest Arai has been constructed by hand, with a focus on smooth, strong curves to ensure energy is deflected as efficiently as possible, while a new single piece EPS liner looks after energy absorption. The shell of the

Quantic is also wider at the front, ensuring an easier fit. The visor mechanism is the VAS system, which was introduced with the RX-7V, and ventilation is offered by 12 air intakes: six in and six out, including one integrated in the logo on the shell’s front. The removable, washable and customisable interiors are made from soft brushed nylon and there’s also provision for an intercom with a special pocket to hide wires.
