SPOTTED: Husqvarna’s Norden 901

The long-awaited Husqvarna Norden 901 looks like it’s ready to roll.

-

It’s been a couple of years since the Austriancum-Swedish factory first showed off its prototype adventure bike at the EICMA show in Milan, and since then we’ve been sitting tight for the big reveal of the finished production-ready machine. We’re not quite there yet, but a couple of new videos of the Norden 901 confirm it’s not far away at all.

The latest film shows Dakar Rally stalwart Cyril Despres and explorer Mike Horn putting the bike through its paces in Iceland. The bike that’s been caught on camera looks very similar to the prototype that was first shown back in 2019. That’s good news. The big trail bike from Husky got a lot of people excited when it was revealed – and it looks like we won’t be disappointed with the finished article.

The expectation is that the Norden 901 will be powered by an 899cc Euro 5 parallel twin engine (105hp at 8,000rpm and 100Nm of torque at 6,500rpm) and will get an electronic throttle, a slipper clutch, WP APEX suspension (43mm inverted forks and a monoshock with preload knob), a TFT colour dash (with connectivity), and big 20-litre rally-raid style tank. There’s also talk of cornering ABS, traction control, engine braking adjustment and a semi-automatic transmission.

There will be full LED lighting, 21” front and 18” rear-spoked wheels, serrated footpegs, a multitube steel chassis with a reinforced aluminum swingarm, centre stand, short windshield and some decent protection too.

In short, the Norden 901 looks like a serious proposition in the adventure bike market and with KTM’s support there’s no doubt it’s going to be a good’un. We can’t wait to finally see one in the flesh. Here’s hoping we don’t have to wait too much longer.
