‘The roads were top notch’
#ride5000miles members hit the Lake District, Europe and beyond
Hats off this weekend to MCN’S #ride5000miles member Terry Collins who spent the Easter bank holiday on a ride to the Ardennes – travelling from Glasgow via the tunnel.
The route saw Terry cover 2000 miles with a group of friends. Terry said: “It was a tough ride to the tunnel, but the roads in France were top notch. We only had two days of rain too.”
Elsewhere, Kurtis Vincent Lowe enjoyed a weekend away to the Lake District with Howard Phillips and Mark Lane – adding 420 miles to their totals.
“I’ve had a cracking weekend away. I went to Cockermouth, Loweswater, Buttermere Lake, Honister Pass, Wrynose Pass and Hardknott Pass both ways. What a road,” Kurtis said.
Away from the roads, fellow member Scott Heyden, from Darlington, added 147 miles to his total by exploring the Peak District. This brings Scott’s tally to 540 across his three motorcycles.
Colin Newton, meanwhile, covered 1236 miles in a day on his Kawasaki ZZR1400, riding from Roscoff in France to Murcia in Spain. Colin said: “It was pissing down when I rode to Plymouth to board the ferry and pissing down when I got off at Roscoff. In fact, it never stopped until I crossed the border towards Biarritz.”
This latest ride brings Colin’s ZZR’S total mileage to an impressive 92,000.
