Gang try to steal Yamaha from under rider’s nose
Bike vlogger Shaun Thompson thought he was having a late April Fool when a gang of four youths tried to steal his Yamaha MT-07 in broad daylight.
In a video posted on his Facebook page, four men can be seen approaching the bike, removing the cover and attempting to cut off the lock – all while Thompson filmed them from an upstairs window and informed them he was calling the police. When the men discover there is a second lock on the rear wheel they give up and ride off on two scooters, not before smashing the window of a car on the driveway. Thompson says this was the third time that week someone had attempted to steal his MT-07 from outside his house in Surrey. The first attempt was at 4pm on Monday, March 26, followed by a second at midnight, March 30.
This shocking video comes only one week after the policing minister Nick Hurd MP said the government is to review the law surrounding police chases but in the meantime officers should not be afraid of chasing suspects on bikes. According to Met figures there were 24,329 moped related crimes in the 12 months to February 2018, up from 10,170 in the previous 12 months.
