O Aprilia RSV4 gets wings and more mumbo
Aprilia and Ducati are locking heads in the battle for the most advanced V4, and the result is this new RSV4 1100 Factory. While Ducati’s R variant is their halo superbike, Aprilia are making their range-topper the new biggercapacity Factory, complete with obligatory GP- derived wings.
The engine is actually 1078cc, with the 52.3mm stroke remaining the same, while the bore increases to 81mm (from 78mm). It also gets new intake timing, and longer fifth and sixth gear ratios. The redline kicks in at 13,600rpm, with the 214bhp peak at 13,200rpm.
But the big benefit of those extra cubes is to the torque, which Aprilia say has increased by 10% across the range compared the RR’S 999.6cc engine, peaking at 90ftlb at 11,000rpm. The bike also gets a titanium Akrapovic.
For the racers amongst us, the full range of adjustability remains, with owners able to change the position of the engine in the frame, as well as altering the headstock angle, swingarm pivot height, and twiddle to infinity with the fully adjustable suspension.
Gp-style wings, plus more cubes equals more power and torque
