Guzzi’s take on a BMW R1200RT, with the 8v motor (pre-2011 was 2-valve). This update brought a better engine and handling than the 2v model, plenty of toys and it has soul (well, it’s a Guzzi). It comes with an impressive array of goodies as standard, too. It’s comfortable with a plush ride, but Guzzi stiffened up the suspension on the updated bikes to help its composure on fast motorway bends. Servicing is easy and cheap. A left-field choice, like most Guzzis.
Buyer beware Early models had cam follower wear issues which caused serious problems. Although there wasn’t an official recall, Guzzi dealers should’ve upgraded all bikes to fit roller bearings to the tappets so check it’s been done under warranty. There are odd electrical gremlins, but its mostly reliable.
