Guzzi’s take on a BMW R1200RT, with the 8v mo­tor (pre-2011 was 2-valve). This up­date brought a bet­ter en­gine and han­dling than the 2v model, plenty of toys and it has soul (well, it’s a Guzzi). It comes with an im­pres­sive ar­ray of good­ies as stan­dard, too. It’s com­fort­able with a plush ride, but Guzzi stiff­ened up the sus­pen­sion on the up­dated bikes to help its com­po­sure on fast mo­tor­way bends. Ser­vic­ing is easy and cheap. A left-field choice, like most Guzzis.

Buyer be­ware Early mod­els had cam fol­lower wear is­sues which caused se­ri­ous prob­lems. Although there wasn’t an of­fi­cial re­call, Guzzi deal­ers should’ve up­graded all bikes to fit roller bear­ings to the tap­pets so check it’s been done un­der war­ranty. There are odd elec­tri­cal grem­lins, but its mostly re­li­able.
