…and I’m sold on this new class’
“I’m a fan of sportsbikes and have done the whole supersport thing and owned a mid-1990s Fireblade. On paper the Aprilia ticked all the right boxes. If the RS delivered a supersport thrill but with more practicality it seemed the ideal bike for me. And the reality proved it was!
“I covered over 6000 miles on the RS660 this year and I loved it. The modern tech wasn’t a huge sell, although the cruise control proved handy I didn’t bother with the connectivity or power modes and the lean-sensitive electronics were nice to have but not essential. The up/down shifter, however, was excellent.
“I enjoyed riding the RS so much and it surpassed my expectations. It looks fantastic in the flesh and the build quality (aside from the plastic tank cover) seems robust, my bike ran fault-free, although I know there have been a few recalls.
“However, what was really impressive was its fun-factor. The RS is so much fun to ride and as fast as anything else out there on the road. Updating the suspension (I went for a Maxton shock and fork upgrade) made a huge difference and made it feel the complete package as the suspension was the only real weak point on the standard bike.”
