Bikes lost and bikes gained

-

I sold my last bike, a Yamaha

XJ6, in 2013 due to family commitments, and have regretted it ever since. My love of bikes gained in my late teens, some 40-plus years ago, has never wained. In more recent years it has been MSL magazine that has kept my dreams alive, along with annual visits to the bike show. I find Maynard’s articles so real and down-toearth; love to hear of others’ adventures both near and far; and, of course, drool at the new bikes. Finally, as the kids have all left home, and sadly older generations have all passed, I can get some ‘me’ time. There is a fantastic choice of bikes now, and with the onset of arthritis in my knees I wanted a lighter bike. My shortlist contained several mid-sized bikes. However, as soon as I saw the new Z650RS, I knew that was the one for me, and ordered one from a friendly bunch of guys at my nearest Kawasaki dealers in Worcester. I now look forward to spring on my new bike, and am paying more attention to the MSL bike gear articles. Thanks for helping to keep my love of bikes alive for all this time. To anyone else out there who can relate to my story, I would say go for it and get that bike!

Hi Adrian, You have hit the nail on the head on two accounts. Firstly, family always comes first, and that sometimes means that other things such as bikes have to give way – that’s life! At the end of the day, bikes have more patience than family. Secondly, hats off to you for choosing the Z650RS. It’s probably the best-looking bike of 2022 in my book, and that mid-weight category is the sweet spot of modern motorcycling – you get all the power you need without the bulk. I hope you have many happy miles on the bike.

Safe riding!
