Places to stay

-

We’ve scoured the Dales for some biker-friendly accommodation to recommend. Most of these places are near to Hawes, as we reckon it’s the perfect place to base yourself if you’re hoping to get the most out of your trip – but it’s not an exhaustive list and there’s plenty of quality places to rest your head for the night right across the National Park.

YHA, Hawes www.yha.org.uk / Camping from £15 and private rooms from £55

Simple, but comfortable and well-equipped with off-road parking, YHA Hawes is the perfect place for bikers on a budget. It’s just a couple of minutes’ walk from the centre of the town, with plenty of pubs and restaurants to ensure you’re fed and watered after a long day on the road.

Loxley House, Hawes www.loxleyhousehawes.co.uk / Double rooms from £95 a night

This is a biker-friendly bed and breakfast that has a large double garage to securely lock bikes up overnight, and there’s even tools on hand should you need to tinker with your bike ahead of the next day’s ride.

The owner’s a keen biker and is happy to offer advice on where to go and what to see.

Stone House Hotel, Wensleydale www.stonehousehotel.co.uk / Bed and breakfast for two from £150 a night

On the slightly pricier end of the scale, the grade II listed Stone House Hotel offers plush rooms, tasty food and a recently renovated Bike Barn for all your motorcycling needs. There’s washing equipment, tools, lockers and electricity all available in the alarmed barn, which is free to use for guests of the hotel.

Gale Green Cottage, between Ingleton and Kirkby Lonsdale www.galegreen.com / Single rooms from £60 a night

Last but by no means least is this cosy bed and breakfast which sits between Ingleton and Kirkby Lonsdale. A short ride away from the biker destination of Devil’s Bridge and within easy reach of the three peaks, it’s a cracking place to stay if you’re looking to explore the rugged western end of the Dales. The owners are ex-bikers, and there’s bike washing facilities as well as secure parking.
