Channel 4 praise
Channel 4’s coverage of the whole Silverstone F1 weekend, including free practice, was fantastic, should be applauded and continued to show what can be done to please the many free-to-view TV spectators.
Scenes of packed grandstands, general admission and campsites made the British Grand Prix a shining example of why we need the historic tracks on the F1 calendar.
Silverstone, Spa and Monza are all awesome venues for the F1 circus that in my time as a petrolhead I’ve been to in different F1 eras. But I will not travel to some far-flung part of the world to experience one of the new so-called exciting modern circuits.
The BBC dropping F1 was a shock to free-toview spectators but Channel 4 have stepped up and grabbed the baton admirably so I hope the current F1 ringmaster is taking note of their hugely successful broadcasts and the crowds the historic circuits generate.
