FIELDING HAS A FIELD DAY AS HIS RIVALS MAKE HEAVY WORK

Sennan Fielding hauled himself back into title contention at Snetterton, taking two wins as many of his rivals were caught up incidents.

The JHR driver emerged unscathed from a series of accidents that occurred in all the races. Fielding won the first race despite having to make two safety car restarts, but points leader Max Fewtrell was among those left on the sidelines after an off.

There was still cause for Carlin celebrations, however, as second and third for Devlin Defrancesco and James Pull meant the team notched up its 800th podium.

The good news continued in race two as the final member of Carlin’s quartet, Petru Florescu, assumed first place in the standings after taking the win. The race featured a crash between Arden duo Luis Leeds and Rafael Martins at Riches when dicing for second, promoting Pull and Defrancesco to an all Carlin rostrum.

After finishing fifth in race two, Fielding again took a lights-to-flag victory in the finale, resisting pressure from Defrancesco.

Fielding beamed: “I couldn’t really ask for much more. We showed we had great pace – we fixed a few issues we found during the six week break.”

The results mean he’s now just 11 points behind Florescu in the standings, while Fewtrell picked up a third place that “softens the blow” from a tough weekend.

Meanwhile, it was Pull’s turn to have an incident this time as he tangled with Billy Monger and Jamie Caroline.
