Kartmasters to boast £40,000 prize fund

-

This weekend’s Kartmasters British Grand Prix will feature the biggest prize fund for competitors in the event’s history.

A prize package worth £40,000 will be on offer to successful karters in the event, which takes place at PF International and is organised by the Trent Valley Kart Club. Class winners will receive up to £1200 each, with other cash prizes on offer.

There are also a host of other rewards including karting equipment and merchandise and every Rotax competitor will receive a free set of tyres from JAG Engineering.

“It’s fantastic [the size of the prize fund] and good that we have got a lot of backers,” said TVKC chairman Nigel Edwards. “IAME have been very supportive of their class [top 10 drivers will all win cash prizes] and there’s some really good stuff available.

“The club has put up the initial prize fund of £1000 for class winners, £500 for second and £250 for third. Then there’s the OTK chassis, which is worth around £6000 [courtesy of Strawberry Racing, for the OK Senior winner].”

Seven categories will take part in the three-day event, with races for IAME Cadet, Honda Cadet, Mini Max, Junior Max, OK Senior and X30 Junior and Senior.

The whole event will also be streamed live on the club’s website.

“We have around 230 entries, which is good and we have three days of racing, so we can give everyone plenty of track time,” added Edwards. “It should be a fabulous event and a good showcase for karting.”
