JAGUAR XJ12C
One of motorsport’s fantastic failures. The Group 2 Big Cat, prepared by Broadspeed, was built to take on BMW in the European Touring Car Championship. On its debut at Silverstone in 1976 the V12 giant completely outpaced the German opposition but broke. It was a theme that continued throughout the car’s racing career: prodigious pace followed by disappointment. Indeed, the 560bhp Jaguar had yet to win an ETCC round when British Leyland pulled the plug at the end of 1977.
