Sir Stirling Moss recovering from a serious chest infection in Singapore
Sir Stirling Moss was still recovering in a hospital in Singapore as Motorsport News closed for press after suffering a serious chest infection.
Moss, 87, was first admitted to hospital on December 22 suffering from the infection and his office said that complications had meant that his “recovery has not been as speedy as was expected or wished”.
Moss finished as runner up four times in the Formula 1 World Championship and won 16 grands prix. His achievements in formula and sportscars have marked him out as one of the finest drivers of his generation.
A statement from his office said: “Sir Stirling’s condition continues to improve and his doctors now consider him stable. He is in good spirits and the hospital is second to none and the consultants, doctors, nurses and staff looking after him could not be more wonderful.”
Moss is expected to remain in Singapore for recuperation after being discharged before heading back to the UK.
