Sport mourns as popular Classic Formula 3 racer Bruce Bartell dies
Classic Formula 3 racer Bruce Bartell died last week aged 59 after an 18-month battle against cancer.
Bartell was a popular member of the historic racing fraternity and came to prominence when he stepped up from track days to race the ex-rupert Keegan Chevron B34.
When his illness started to have an effect, Bruce handed the Chevron over to his son Max who won the 2015 CF3 title. The fatherand-son duo also raced the ex-keith St John ELVA-BMW MK7S sports-racing car. Despite increasingly poor health, Bruce was on hand at the Goodwood Revival in September when Max finished on the podium of the Madgwick Cup in the Elva.
