Mike and Andrew Jordan will share a freshly rebuilt TVR Griffith in historic races next season and gave the immaculate car a first shakedown run at Donington Park recently.

The Griffith was built around a road car that Jordan Sr found in the US. “It’s a true barn find restoration,” said Jordan Sr. “It is chassis 035, which was a fairly early 1965 car that went to the US when new. It was in a pretty sorry state when we found it.”

Marque expert Nigel Reuben has done most of the work, with Jordan senior adding his trademark touches of detail to the project. “I’m really thrilled with how it’s come out,” said Jordan who was joined by his British touring car racing son Andrew for the Donington shakedown. Mike Jordan said: “We’ll do a few more tests this year and get it ready to race next year. We want to share it in the Spa three-hours and we’ll probably do some Masters Gentleman Drivers races as well.”

The programme will need to fit around running customer cars, including Lotus Cortinas and Lotus Elans, under their Jordan Racing Team banner.

Jordan Sr already has Griffith experience as he regularly shares the car of Mike Whitaker at Goodwood. Jordan’s car is running Whitaker’s spare engine for testing before a Steve Warrior engine is delivered.

The Griffith 400 was the result of collaboration between TVR and New York-based Jack Griffith, who took the Uk-produced body and fitted Ford V8 engines in a bid to rival the AC Cobra.
