Priaulx joins 2019 British GT grid with Multimatic Motorsports’s Ford Mustang

-

Multimatic Motorsports will enter two Ford Mustang GT4S in the British GT championship next year, with British F4 racewinner Seb Priaulx among the driver roster.

The company is best known for building and running the Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GTS that contest the FIA World Endurance Championship. But it has also developed the Mustang GT4, a proven winner in the US over the past two seasons, which will be debuting in British GT.

Priaulx, the son of Ford WEC racer Andy, will switch from single-seater racing to join long-time Multimatic drivers Billy Johnson and Scott Maxwell in the line-up, with a fourth driver yet to be confirmed.

Priaulx is likely to be paired with 54-year-old Maxwell as a Silver Cup pairing, while Goldrated Johnson will be entered in Pro-am with a yet to be announced Bronze driver.

Multimatic confirmed that its desire was for the programme to develop “young talent both behind the wheel and on the race team”.

Multimatic vice president Larry Holt said: “Seb was extremely impressive in the Mustang when we tested him at Snetterton and I can’t think of a better story than bringing on the next generation of Priaulx. He will learn a lot from Billy and Scott, including how to drift properly!

“British GT is a fantastic platform to show off our product to potential customers so we’re excited to go head-tohead with the GT4 cars from companies like Aston Martin, Mclaren and Mercedes.”
