How Jordan is helping restore a TVR Tuscan Challenge racer so his father can roll back the years

-

Everytime Andrew’s dad Mike took to the track in the TVR Tuscan Challenge, his young son would be cheering on from the sidelines.

Jordan Sr spent a couple of seasons racing the fearsome rear-wheel-drive monsters, and it was some of his most enjoyable times in the sport. But now, 30 years after the category was introduced and more than a decade after it faded away as a bespoke series, the monster is back. Andrew and Mike are in the process of restoring his old racer and there are plans afoot to gather together some of the series’ star names and drivers next season for a celebration.

Jordan’s car was owned by his former TVR Tuscan Challenge rival Michael Caine while, ironically, Jordan had sourced Caine’s old car. They conducted a swap, and both machines are being fully rebuilt by the Jordan Racing Team for the season ahead.

“They are such amazing cars,” says Jordan Jr. “I really want to have a go, but I best leave this one to dad. It was his idea: he was watching an old season review on VHS last year and he text me saying that he really wanted to get a car back together. Along with Cainey, it snowballed from there. I think there are quite a few cars knocking about and people are getting them back together.

“I remember those cars, and the awesome sight and sound of them, from when I was a child. It is going to be quite something to see them up and running again.”
