SPEED& RALLY SHOW BACK WITH NEW DATE FOR 2019
The Oswestry Showground based Speed & Rally Show will return in 2019, with a new August date, and a celebration of the Mini and Richard Burns. In 2018 the Motorsport News
supported event celebrated the anniversary of the last season of the Motoring News Road Rally Championship in 1986, with special guests from the era.
Next year marks 60 years since the Mini hit the roads in the UK and the mid-wales event near the English border is looking for cars throughout the years to join on static display and as demonstration machines.
The 20th anniversary of the Richard Burns Subaru Impreza is also on the agenda to celebrate on August 17.
The event always attracts an array of current and historic machinery from British and World Rally history, with a testing demo stage set-up which also features buggies, motorbikes and other machines from the world of motoring.
“After feedback from entrants and the great clubs that help us source vehicles it became apparent the May date just wouldn’t work,” said Lightning House’s Brynmor Pierce, the man behind the event.
“We’ve looked at other dates and decided to take a leap of faith with August 17, this has already ensured some of the amazing ex-works rally cars from 2017 are back with us.”
Pierce owns a Mk1 Mini Cooper and has had variations of the cars in his family since the 1960s. The Mini Cooper Register and HRCR Mini Cup championship have also been invited to mark the occasion.
Tickets for the event are available on January 1 and are all priced below £20. Visit: tsars.org for details.
