Rookies prepare for post-marrakech FE test
Ex-williams Formula 1 driver Sergey Sirotkin leads the cast of drivers who will to take part in the ABB FIA Formula E rookie test in Marrakech this month.
Sirotkin will drive for Mahindra Racing in the test, which takes place this weekend after the Marrakech E-prix, as he eyes up potential options having left F1.
“Formula E is now one of the most rapidly developing championships,” said the Russian. “The competition here is at a very high level.
“More manufacturers are entering the series as they are confident that electric cars have strong future potential.
“More technical solutions appear in these cars and they are progressing rapidly.
“I drove a Formula E car in 2016 but now the car generation has changed it will be interesting to try the difference.” Arthur Leclerc – younger brother of 2019 Ferrari F1 racer Charles – will drive alongside Norman Nato for Venturi. Leclerc is a member of Venturi’s ‘Next Gen’ development scheme and was the first driver to sample its VFE-05 Gen2 car during the private manufacturer testing period in early 2018. DS Techeetah will field Sauber F1 tester Tatiana Calderon and Super GT ace James Rossiter, while Jaguar will run Pietro Fittipaldi and Harry Tincknell. Two-time DTM champion Marco Wittmann will get his first run in a Formula E car driving for BMW, as will fellow DTM driver Jamie Green with Audi.
