O’SULLIVAN SWITCHES GINETTA SQUADS

-

Ginetta Junior title contender Zak O’sullivan raced for the In2racing team at Oulton Park last week after switching from the Douglas Motorsport outfit for the remainder of the season.

O’sullivan, who leads the rookie championship, has finished a best of second overall on five occasions this season, but has failed to get on the overall podium since Thruxton in May.

Following a below-par performance at Croft last month where he could only manage eighth in the sole race, the Cheltenham-based driver opted to head to pastures new.

“We were struggling all weekend [at Croft] and struggled to put our finger on what was going wrong,” he said. “It really highlighted our weaknesses and it wasn’t ideal really considering where I am in the championship.

“We thought we were better off starting with a blank canvas, reset with some new faces that can look from a new perspective that can think ‘what could it be?’”

O’sullivan is now In2racing’s only driver after a slew of early season departures from Roman Bilinski and Ben Kasperczak left the team without any entries at Croft.

Despite this, O’sullivan remains confident in the team’s ability.

“At the beginning of the season some of their drivers were very fast [Bilinski, took pole at Donington Park but was disqualified in the race] so they definitely have the pace,” he said. “They’ve been running Porsche teams and they’re doing a great job.”

With two races at the weekend, O’sullivan celebrated a highest finish of seventh and heads into the summer second, 95 points behind championship leader James Hedley.
