“We are having a record season for Historic Sports Car Club Historic Formula 2. We’ve had the biggest ever grids and the response to the championship has been amazing. The phone never stops ringing with enquiries.”
They raced at the Silverstone Classic
“The Silverstone Classic is a unique event in its size and spectacle and we were very fortunate to go there and show off our series in front of such a large audience and spread the word. It was probably even better than we could have imagined. The support has been amazing and the interest continues to grow.”
It’s a great spectacle
“The racing is just fantastic and all our drivers put on such a great show. We want everyone to enjoy these wonderful cars. All the cars in the series have great provenance and are beautifully prepared. In total, we had 70 entries for Silverstone.”
Numbers are key
“It is fundamental to the success of the series that we grow the pool of available drivers. We need a strong database. Statistically, we need a base of 100 drivers to ensure full grids at every event. There is a considerable amount of travelling involved with two rounds in the UK and four rounds in Europe.”
More cars are coming
“There are a considerable number of cars in preparation to join the grid next season. Cars are coming from all over the world and there is even a car being prepared in Botswana in Africa. We have a five-class championship with five different types of car and, in a way, five different types of driver. We bring all those together to make one spectacular race.”
The calendar is vital
“We run at high profile race meetings at the right venues in the best company. Our ambition is always to race at venues that staged Formula 2 races in period. It is a very open series and very inclusive and we welcome any one with a Formula 2 or Formula Atlantic car.”
