Fastest on the first stage and then never headed, Meilyr Evans and Telor Pugh (Ford Escort Mk2) took a comfortable victory on Bala & District’s Gareth Hall Memorial Rally last weekend.

Josh Taylor and Heather Merrison finished 21 seconds behind in their newly-acquired Subaru Impreza, with Geoff Jones and Nicola Nieroda a further 12s adrift in their charity fund-raising Escort.

Fourth, in the ex-taylor Impreza, were Gethin Sharp and Kate Bannister, tied with Jones/ Nieroda but were two seconds slower on the first stage. In fifth, taking the first two-litre class award, were Dave and Eryl Pritchard, ahead of the mixed crew winners Ross Leach and Hannah Davison (Impreza).

Regular Ranges driver Geoff Mcquilling, with Stephen Landen, won the 1600 class and was seventh in his Honda Civic, narrowly ahead of top seeds Len Jones and Don James – who had been in contention for victory until the fifth stage, where a spin dropped them down the order but they recovered to eighth place.

Rounding off the top 10 were Hywel Davies and Simon

Jones (Escort) and ANWCC Championship leader Adam Williams with Rachael Atherton in another Impreza.

Alan Evans and Rhys Jones took their Nissan Micra to the 1400cc win, and Brynli Thomas/ Catrin Price (306) won the

Road Rally class.
