IRISH DEJA VU EVENT TO HONOUR KELLY AND MULHOLLAND

-

The Deja vu Donegal event will honour Manus Kelly following the popular rally driver’s death on the Donegal International Rally in June.

All 160 cars entering this Saturday’s Deja vu event will carry a sticker in memory of treble Donegal International winner Kelly, while a special canvas montage will be auctioned at the Gala Dinner with the proceeds going to the Donegal Hospice.

The event will also honour John Mulholland, the successful car dealer, Ulster Rally sponsor and competitor, who passed away earlier this month from kidney cancer.

The 55-year-old married father of four was diagnosed with the disease 14 months ago and had been receiving treatment in London.

Following his diagnosis last year, Mulholland launched a major fundraising drive for Friends of the Cancer Centre where he hoped to collect £40,000 for the charity – something his family has vowed to continue in his memory.

The Deja vu events celebrate Ireland’s biggest rallies, with the Ulster and Circuit of Ireland dedicated in recent years.

They are non-competitive events where drivers, co-drivers and significant stakeholders in the rallies drive the stages.

In what is a star-studded entry list, six-time Donegal winner Andrew Nesbitt will take part, alongside

1980 winner and five-time British champion, Jimmy Mcrae.

Belgian driver Patrick Snijers – best known in the UK and Ireland for his 1988 Manx win – will also participate, as will 1981 and ‘82 winner John Lyons.
