BTRDA ROUND AT LYDDEN HILL DRAWS A BUMPER ENTRY
Clubmans rallycross championship full to bursting on return to iconic Kent venue
The BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship has revealed a bumper entry for the series’ seventh round at Lydden Hill next month.
The current entry stands at 98 cars for the September 28 event. To demonstrate its popularity, series bosses announced that 90 drivers had entered three months prior to the Kent meeting, which returned to the Clubmans calendar last season.
The headline two-wheel-drive Super Modified category includes entries from Belgian, Dutch and Norwegian drivers, with Volvo 242 driver Kenneth Kristiansen returning to
Lydden Hill for a second successive year hoping to make amends for retiring after practice last season.
Former British Rallycross Supernational champion Stuart Emery will make his competitive return in his turbocharged Peugeot 206, while former Swift Sport racer James Knight-coney will race his father Paul’s Super1600-specification Vauxhall Corsa for the first time.
Guy Corner will make his second outing in his freshlybuilt Lotus Exige, following a successful outing in the British Championship round at the same circuit on Monday. Former BTRDA overall champions
Gary Cook and Kieran Curran will race their Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa respectively in Super Modified, while reigning champion Luke Constantine will aim to continue his unbeaten run of the 2019 season in the 10-car Junior category as he targets a second straight crown.
Seven cars have entered the Production 4x4 category, which has so far been poorly supported in 2019, with Bradley Sampson and Darren Clark adding to the otherwise Subaru Impreza-heavy category with a Mitsubishi Evo and Nissan Pulsar respectively.
