FIVE SEASONS SO FAR
2015-16
Champion: James Sharrock (Ford Escort Mk2)
The championship’s inaugural season became a shootout between James Sharrock’s Escort Mk2 and Ashley Field’s Darrian. While Field enjoyed a pace advantage, reliability proved his undoing and Sharrock’s impeccable consistency yielded him the title despite not winning a round. Champion: Ian Woodhouse
(Ford Escort Mk2)
Paul Swift and Ian Woodhouse emerged as the title protagonists in 2016-17; both at the controls of Escort Mk2s. Sodden conditions at the penultimate round in Donington swung the affair as Swift lost it and got stuck in the gravel trap at Melbourne hairpin, paving a clear path for Woodhouse to snatch the spoils.
2017-18
Champion: Chris West
(Peugeot 306 Maxi)
Chris West became the third different champion in as many years on the penultimate round at Cadwell. Disgusting conditions caught him out as he slid his Peugeot into the barriers, only to be collected moments later by championship rival John Stone. Despite heavy damage, West recovered and took the points he needed.
2018-19
Champion: Chris West
(Peugeot 306 Maxi)
With a new engine and tyre deal, West was dominant. He never finished off the podium all year and won half of the events (four) to streak to championship number two and with it become the first champion to retain their crown.
2019-20
Champion: Barry Morris (Darrian T90 GTR)
Frank Bird was the paceman as he swept to five of eight rally wins in a Ford Focus WRC07, but retirements at Oulton Park and Anglesey proved costly. Enter Barry Morris, who took maximum advantage at Anglesey with a win that set up his title-clinching moment at Donington Park.
